Hot chocolate and water will be made available. We also ask each unit to bring with them as many adult Scouters and parents as possible. We are in need of adults to perform various duties in many different positions as they are related to Search and Rescue. For instance, victims (prepared ahead of time with information from the committee), radio operators, judges, headquarter personnel as needed. The time schedule is a crunch. Therefore the decision was made to provide the noon meal. However, to continue to provide the program and maintain good food, we are requesting each registered Boy Scout and Scout Leader bring one can of Soup with them for the community supper. Please refrain from bringing creamed, chili, or tomato soups. Also, if a unit desires to cook a dessert, they are more than encouraged to do so and share as they can. This Klondike will be unlike previous ones. The noon meal will be provided as to allow maximum time for the events. Training events are to include: 1. Signaling and communication 2. First Aid- Hypothermia, broken bones, heart attack, concussion 3. Wilderness survival 4. Map & Compass 5. Search and Rescue techniques 6. Sled inspection 7. Fire building Speaking of sleds, the decision has been made to have the sled be required to carry all listed equipment plus one person. Also, the sled should have two or more runners or skis. Listed equipment is as follows: ___ Sled ___ Blanket ___ Water Source- Minimum ½ gallon ___ Matches- Properly stored ___ First Aid Kit ___ Boy Scout Handbook ___ 30'Rope ___ Firewood ___ Pot ___ Pocket Knife ___ Candy Bar for each SCOUT! ___ Candle ___ Compass ___ Equipment pack for above items The judging will be on a list of criteria to include such things as: * Equipment listed for the sled * Leadership ability * Use of knowledge learned from morning sessions * Completion of tasks Each unit is encouraged to attend future Roundtables to gather additional information. Camping is allowed for Saturday night; however, the awards are planed for distribution during the Saturday supper. The time schedule will be put out later. Saturday registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and concludes by 8:15 a.m. The District Program Committee recognizes this to be an ambitious plan. However, a little challenge is good now and than. In order to make this happen, the committee is asking for adult Scouters to step forward and help as needed. Any questions, please feel free to contact the various members.
