CVBC is phasing out its Boy
Scouts of America ministry, so
Troop 72 is closing down
operations in August after a three-year ramp down.
Per the advice of Jasper Arneberg (Eagle Scout #6), rather than
slowly fading away, we are going to go out with a BANG!
We are planning an entire "Farewell Weekend" of festivities for
August 8-9, 2026. It is also our 25th anniversary, so we hope all of
our former Scouts and adult leaders can come to our all-troop
reunion and closing ceremonies.
Overview of the weekend itinerary:
- Saturday, August 8, 2026 (optional activities for those in
town):
- 7:30 am -- Pure Water Days
races at the YMCA (200m,
1 mi, 4 mi, half-marathon). Good chance to retest your Physical
Fitness Merit Badge.
- 8:00 am -- Pure Water Days
Pickleball tournament
- 1:00 pm -- Pure Water Days
PARADE
through downtown Chippewa Falls. Troop 72
is going to be pulling the troop trailer in the parade, and
inviting all former Scouts and Scouters to walk along. Wear a
backpack if you have one!
- 5:30 pm -- Riverfest Concert at the Riverfront Park with
Resonate, a
great band starring our very own current
Senior Patrol Leader Micah Uttecht, and his older
brother, Eagle Scout and
Philmont
Crew Leader Jaden Uttecht!
We'll sit together in a special Troop 72 cheering section.
- Sunday, August 9, 2026
- 9:00 am -- Normal worship service at our charter org,
Chippewa Valley Bible Church.
- 11:45 am -- Catered lunch at CVBC. No cost, no donations
accepted!
- 1:00 pm -- MAIN EVENT: Closing Ceremonies in the CVBC sanctuary.
We'll cover the philosophy and history of Troop 72, give out
some wacky awards, and hear some great stories from the 25
years of the troop.
- 2-4 pm -- plenty of time to hang around and reconnect with
old friends

to let us know whether we should plan on you and
your guests for lunch, and to capture your contact
information for updates. You can opt into an online directory that will be made
available to former Scouts, and you can also give us some ideas for
stories and awards for the closing ceremonies. Help us shape this
into a great event to honor a quarter century of Scouting in
Chippewa Falls!
