The boys of Troop72.com tried out REAL backpacking for the first time in mid-October, 2002. They parked cars at Plummer Lake, and hiked the Ice Age Trail to a campsite on Harwood Lakes. After breaking camp the next day, they hiked East with full packs to Deerfly trail, and lunch by the lake, thyen headed back to the cars. It was a total of four miles (good enough for a requirement in the Camping Merit Badge). The weather was beautiful -- cold but clear and sunny. We had a great time on our first backpack trip!
