The boys of
Troop72.com had another great
backpacking adventure on the weekend of October 25-26, 2003.
They tried out the
Ice Age Trail
outside Chippewa County for the first
time, and almost bit off more than they could chew. Eight brave boys
and three dads ended up hiking around FIFTEEN MILES with full packs,
when they had been expecting only about half that! Worse, the trail
in Taylor County was not quite as well-kept as the one they were used
to, and it took a lot of extra energy to climb over fallen trees,
slosh through bogs, balance over log bridges, etc. (That's why this
troop renamed it the "Ice Age Goat Path.")
Still, everyone safely made it to the car before dark, a great time was had by all and character was built in the Chequamegon National Forest. Another great Scouting weekend!
