Troop 72 at Philmont 2014: Day 5
June 27 through July 11, 2014, the Scouts of Troop72.com embarked on the greatest adventure in Scouting: PHILMONT!

Day 5 (7/02/14): Layover at Beaubien (side hike to Trail Peak; Conservation) (elev. 9409)

Day 5 was a "layover" day, meaning we didn't have to strike the campsite and move on with all our gear. But we still had a lot of adventure! Our crew did the side hike to Trail Peak (elev. 10,291), where we saw wreckage of a war plane from World War II. It was very foggy and cool at the top (55F). Then we performed our conservation project, which was cutting down smaller trees to help reduce the risk of forest file.
