Troop 72 at Philmont 2014: Day 11

June 27 through July 11, 2014, the Scouts of Troop72.com embarked on the greatest adventure in Scouting: PHILMONT!

Day 11 (7/08/14): Cimarroncito to Upper Clark's Fork (elev. 8088)

We are all getting that sad feeling that our Philmont adventure is winding down. Today we hiked from Cimmaroncito to Upper Clark's Fork, but we took a detour to explore Hidden Valley first, eating our breakfast at Window Rock with great views of the plains and Tooth Ridge. We also hiked along the Cimmaroncito Reservoire and stopped by a huge dam that was fun to see. We spent most of our day in the main Clark's Fork campsite, doing a little lassooing and some more branding. After setting our campsite in Upper Clark's Fork, we returned for the evening musical show, which was in a spectular setting. Since this was a dry campsite, we all filled up our emergency water storage jugs so that we each had at least EIGHT QUARTS of water. Tomorrow will be a long, hot day, with no water until base camp, and we can't afford to run out of water.
