Troop 72 at Philmont 2014: Day 7
June 27 through July 11, 2014, the Scouts of Troop72.com embarked on the greatest adventure in Scouting: PHILMONT!

Day 7 (7/04/14): Red Hills to Black Mountain (elev. 9058)

Today we hiked back up that blasted ravine from the Red Hills unstaffed camp to Black Mountain. But first our crew got up super early and tackled Mt. Phillips, the highest point in South Philmont (second only to Baldy Peak in the north), without gear. It featured SPECTACULAR views! But it was still COLD - 38F when we woke up. When we got to Black Mountain, we did some blacksmithing and black powder rifle shooting.
