Troop 72 at Philmont 2016: Day 1
June 5-21, 2016, the Scouts of Troop72.com embarked on the greatest adventure in Scouting: PHILMONT!

Day 1 (7/08/16): Base Camp Preparations

This was our first official day of Philmont (yesterday was a bonus day; we had arrived a day early to guard against possible late Amtrak). We woke up at 6am to a beautiful 58 F morning, ate cafeteria breakfast, then after getting our official crew photo taken (required in case of search and rescue), Ranger Dave started training the crew while Crew Leader Dominic plotted out our trek in Logistics. After lunch and our medical checks, we got our tents, food, gas, and other gear, and capped off the day with the opening ceremonies (chapel service and campfire skits).

Here are a some photos I took with my new Canon 70D camera.
